MADRID, Spain – Maybe not, but we can dream, right? That lavish little palace peeking out the middle of the trees is Madrid’s Palacio Real: THE Spanish royal palace. Originally, it served as a fortress and housed the royal family, but today its used mostly for state occasions. Mr. Wonderful and I were sauntering through the Puerta del Príncipe and just happened to catch the solemn changing of the guard, which apparently only takes place on the first Wednesday of the month. Talk about right place at the right time. This was a show! The Royal Guard on drums. On foot. On horseback. In formation. All marching to the beat of their own Spanish drums.
